The History of the Binion Collection
Ted Binion was a Las Vegas operator who acquired a large hoard of silver coins for the Horseshoe casino. In 1998 he was murdered by Rick Tabish who was sleeping with Binion’s girlfriend Sandy Murphy. Unknown to Ted, Rick was stealing from him and building an underground concrete vault to store the loot. After his death, it was discovered the bunker contained six tons of silver bullion, casino chips, paper currency, and more than 100,000 silver coins estimated to be worth 10 million dollars.
